Will my phone work with a Globeelink eSIM?

Last updated October 14, 2026

Most phones from the last few years support eSIM, and your phone also needs to be unlocked by your carrier. Phones bought outright usually are; phones on a contract are usually locked until it ends. If yours is locked, your home carrier can usually unlock it.

To work with a Globeelink eSIM, your phone needs two things.

1. It needs eSIM hardware

Built into most phones from the last few years, including recent iPhone, Samsung Galaxy and Pixel models. Many other Android phones support eSIM, but coverage is uneven — our device compatibility checker lets you search by model. A green checkmark means you're good.

2. It needs to be carrier-unlocked

Even an eSIM-capable phone can't use Globeelink if it's locked to a carrier. Phones bought outright are usually unlocked; phones on a contract are usually locked until it ends. To check on iPhone: Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock — it should say "No SIM restrictions." If your phone is locked, your home carrier can usually unlock it.

A note on China-market iPhones

A few iPhones sold in mainland China don't support eSIM, and some restrict which eSIMs you can add while you're inside mainland China. If you bought your iPhone in mainland China, run the compatibility checker and message Globeebot before you travel.
